Confirmed – 2011 Dodge Durango is a Durango

So Dodge has finally launched the new upcoming 2011 Durango replacement website. Guess what?! Turns out the Durango replacement will be in fact another Durango! That’s right folks. The rumors of the name changing to Magnum were apparently wrong. They have put up three full teaser pics which between these and the spy shots we can pretty much tell what the new Durango will look like. Remember this based off of the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a slight stretch. Powertrain will be the same as the 2011 Grand Cherokee. Check out the full teaser site here.

LEAKED – 2012 Dodge Durango (Magnum?)

As previously reported the new upcoming 2012 Dodge Durango (or is that Magnum?) is coming very soon. In fact if earlier leaks are correct the new Durango should start production on November 8. That is pending that the production is still on schedule or that the schedule has not shifted. Judging by this picture which is obviously in the factory or near the pre-production line the vehicle is probably on schedule.

The design has not changed much from the earlier leaks which is to say it is strong but dramatically different from the current Durango. The Durango (Magnum?) will be based on the new Grand Cherokee platform though probably a little longer due to third row. The powertrain line up will also mimic the new 2011 Grand Cherokee with the Pentastar V6 and Hemi V8.

Chrysler to Produce a Citadel

The now dead Chrysler Aspen

According to The Wall Street Journal, Chrysler is working on a luxury version of the upcoming Dodge Durango Magnum. This model will reportedly wear the Citadel name plate. This was tried once before, anyone remember the Chrysler Aspen? I personally am not sure how likely this is to happen based on the previous attempt.

Episode 22 starts by introducing our newest member to the AutoBird Podcast team, Justin Loyear joining us from Cheers and Gears. Moving into the garage we talk about the Buick Enclave I was in for the past week. We then move along to the major news of the week segment. This week included-

This week the topics included discussion on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid & Sonata Turbo, 2011 Kia Optima/Forte Hatch/Sportage, Scions, 2011 Nissan Juke, Chevrolet Cruze Eco and RS, 2011 Hyundai Equus, and last but certainly not least the 2011 Infiniti QX56.

Last we discuss the past week on our respective blogs, Cheers and Gears, AutoBird Blog and Accelerate Mpls. The week in review included- my updated Name That Car: Sebring or 200C, Innovative Ford Fiesta Movement Campaign Stirs Interest, and Name That Car: Dodge Durango or Magnum. Name That Car: Dodge Durango or Magnum?

What you see above is a spy shot taken by GMfan1111, a fearless member of GM Inside News. He caught the lightly camo covered mule in Detroit. What you are viewing is the next generation Dodge Durango Magnum. Rumors have it that the name plate will change from Durango to Magnum for this next generation. The underpinnings will be shared with the new upcoming 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. That means no more body on frame, instead it will be a unibody SUV. Powertrains will also be shared with the up coming Grand Cherokee including the new Pentastar V6 and Hemi V8. Below is a sketch based off the patent filings for the next vehicle. The sketch was done by for Allpar by Stephen Weigel. Last but not least posted below the sketch is the patent filings themselves filed by Dodge back in April 2009. So you decide what do you think of the next generation Dodge SUV and what nameplate do you think it will wear?

Leaked Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram Production Start Dates

2011 Chrysler 300 Interior

Dates have been leaked out onto Allpar, a site devoted to all things Chrysler past and present, with the production start dates for many of the new or refreshed Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/Jeep models.

Things to note:

The LX based cars now have the same date as each other
It was originally stated that production of the new Charger and 300C would be staggered and now they are pegged to enter production simultaneously
The Wrangler date has also been moved up slightly
Rumors now peg the 200C name plate to be replacing the Sebring name
The Avenger name may soldier on for the Dodge counterpart

2010 Viper – March 29

2011 Ram Chassis Cab – April 5

2011 Grand Cherokee – May 10

2011 Ram 1500/2500 – July 5 (one plant; second plant for Ram 1500 starts July 26)

2011 Caliber, Dakota, Liberty, Nitro – July 26

2011 Wrangler – August 16

2011 Jeep Patriot – October 4

2011 Dodge CUV (Durango replacement, possibly Magnum) – November 8
