Why I Need This Awesome Bed: Feder Feder Edition

This bed is awesome. See, there really isn’t much more to say than that. Featuring the front end of a Mitsubishi Evolution and some ridiculous camber on the wheels, it’s just waiting to take your dreams for a ride around the Nurburgring.

I asked Karen is we could get a bed like this and the answer was quickly no. How shocked are you really?

If this was my bed, I would definitely install a CB Radio so I could talk to other car beds, or random truckers when I couldn’t sleep.

Hopefully someday I can have a bed like this for my son. Until then, a guy can dream.

This Week’s Wheels: 2011 Mazda RX-8 Touring

The Mazda RX-8 isn’t long for this world, and with it goes the only rotary powered vehicle currently in Mazda’s line-up. A sad day for sure, but with poor fuel economy, oil consumption issues, questionable reliability, and a price tag in BMW 128i territory, there’s really no question as to why the RX-8 doesn’t fly off the show floor. While I just listed quite a few negatives of the RX-8 off the bat, there are plenty of reasons the RX-8 is a fun car, and I look forward to experiencing some of them this week.

Announcement: The Feders Are Moving To Portland

I keep reading the title of this post and have a hard time believing I typed it. It’s true, we are moving to Portland, OR.

Karen has accepted an amazing opportunity as the Search Manager for WebTrends. I am so proud of her and am being as supportive as possible.

We’ll be moving in a few weeks, and she will be starting on October 17. Did I mention I’ll be traveling for work the entire week we are moving?

This decision did not come lightly. There have been many tears shed and heated arguments as to what we should do. But in the end, Karen taking this position is the right decision. I’m sad we will be moving away from our friends and family.

As many of you know, one of my main priorities in life is the family cabin up North. Giving up the ability to go up to this place of serenity as often as I want in the summer is so difficult, words escape me. I know how devastated you are that you won’t be seeing new pictures of me water skiing every weekend. Trust me, I’m even more devastated that I won’t be going water skiing nearly as often.

As far as my job goes, this won’t affect my position with High Gear Media in anyway. In fact, one of our editors lives in Portland. It’ll be great to be able to collaborate with him.

I know many of you are wondering what will happen to this blog, as it is called Accelerate Mpls. I’ve been giving it some thought and have yet to really determine what I will do with the name. For the current moment as we are in the midst of the move, I am going to leave the name alone.

This blog started as an outlet for my automotive passion, quickly turning into a site where I could post automotive news and reviews. Since I joined High Gear Media, a lot of the content I now write is posted for work on our network. That leaves this site for some reviews and other personal stuff. I decided before my wedding that this site would evolve, and I believe this move is going to be the catalyst for the evolution. I will still post reviews, and random stuff, but I would like to see it morph to be more about me, my life with cars, and cars. You know, instead of just being about cars.

Portland is going to be a whole new adventure, and I can’t wait to experience it with Karen and Otto. Stay tuned for more updates, as I will try to provide plenty.

This Week’s Wheels: 2012 Honda Civic SI Coupe

The 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 has left and replacing the big Hemi V-8 is the new 2012 Honda Civic SI Coupe. I’m definitely looking forward to driving the new Civic SI with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder and slick six-speed manual. My initial impressions: the interior plastics seem cheap and glossy, and how is this navigation system acceptable in a 2012 vehicle?

Review – 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel AWD: The Durango’s Back

I remember when the Dodge Durango first came out. It was a sharp looking truck-based SUV. Then, the second generation came out and it all went to heck. The styling was a mess, the interior materials would make Lego cry, and it was just plain ugly. Now we have a third generation Durango which is based on the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. I spent a week with it to find out if it is a sharp looking SUV or another mess that would make Lego cry. Read More…

Review – 2011 Chrysler 300C: What It Should Be

I must admit, I had a love/hate relationship with the last generation Chrysler 300C. I loved what it could have been, but I hated what it ended up being. Fantastic styling (when it debuted) with an interior that only a true die hard Chrysler fan could love, and even then, not all of them could stomach it. The refresh in 2008 fixed some issues, but it wasn’t enough.

When I first saw the 2011 300C in photos, I actually thought it was ugly. The amount of chrome splashed around the exterior – and that rear end! But once I saw it in person, it just felt right. The question is: is this what American luxury should be?

This Week’s Wheels: 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Joins The 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8

The 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 has just joined the 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 in my driveway for the week. Looking forward to driving the new 3.8-liter direct-injection V-6 in the Genesis.

Stay tuned for more updates.

This Week’s Wheels: 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8

That’s right, a brand new 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 is in my driveway for a week. I’m looking forward to all 470 horses pulling this beast all week. I’ve driven it ten feet so far, and all I can say is, God Bless Chrysler.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Wedding And Operation Blackout: Feder Feder Unplugged Wrap-Up

To say the last two and a half weeks has been a whirlwind, would be an understatement. First things first, on Sunday August 28 at 4 pm I got married. Quite a few people were shocked she went through with it, but I’m a lucky guy.

I know many of you are wondering what we drove away from the ceremony in. While there was some discussions regarding the topic initially, it was quickly decided that we would drive away from the ceremony in Uncs 1990 Nissan 300ZX. Read More…
